Old School RuneScape gets a new school facelift for its sixth birthday
We took a trip to the written world of Gielinor yesterday with the new book and comic, and now we return to the virtual world with Old School RuneScape. It has been six years since mobile players were able to travel back in time to a simpler MMO life, and now we are receiving a suite of revamped features.
Let’s start with the social side, now with a way to escape it. The Chat panel has a toggle button that allows you to collapse it and focus on the combat. There is also a bigger and easier-to-use keyboard button to make talking easier.
Side stones can now be open from the left, and are divided into columns, with a button to minimise the second column for when you want a clearer screen. For more UI management, the Menu Entry Swapper has been ported over to mobile. This will let you swap interactable elements of NPCs and other entities.
Further tinkering can be done with five customisable hotkeys allowing you to mix things up with a quick click, such as swapping between PvM and Skilling in one press. There are over 25 features available for these hotkeys. You can store up to three customisable profiles for added ease.
If you take a look at the side panel with the XP Tracker, you will now find HiScores now available in the client, so you can immediately answer any rude person who happens to overtake your standing. Finally, you can keep your eye on any future additions, as well as XP tracking, setting for Ground Item Indicators and more, thanks to the Popout Panel. It aims for a minimalist style that does not distract from the onscreen action.
Old School RuneScape is available to download from the App Store and Google Play, now complete with shiny new buttons.
