hero academy 2 basic tactics

In this part of our Hero Academy 2 guide, we're going to have a look at some of the tactics you're going to need to learn if you want to rise up the ranks. We're going to start off slow, then get more advanced in the next section.

We've already covered the cards you're going to be using, the different modes the game offers, and what all the currencies do, so make sure you check out all of those guides too. And keep coming back for more hints and tips, cos we've got loads to share with you.

Keep your ranged attackers at range

If you've got some cheap ranged characters, it's a good idea to get them into the game early. That way, you're going to be able to do some damage before the enemy get close to you. You can also use them to chip away at the crystals if they're close enough, doing some early damage.

Remember though, it's important to keep your ranged characters on the move. If melee units get close to them, they can rip them up in no time flat, since ranged characters can only get revenge on ranged attacks.

Check your cards first

Before you do anything each round, make sure you check out the cards that are in your hand. Sure, it's nice to get a whack in when someone's stood next to you, or to take the next step in your masterplan, but you might have a card that's going to make that whack or step even more useful.

Make it a habit to look over the cards you've got before you do anything else in your turn. That way you're not going to be regretting things that could have happened if you'd been paying a little more attention.

Learn the rules

Plenty of cards come with their own extra rules that can really change the tide of battle. Throwing them out wily-nily when they're not going to be effective could well cost you the game, so learn what each of your cards does.

There are plenty of interactions between units, spells, and weapons, so try and make sure when you're building your deck that everything complements everything else. There's no point taking a hammer weapon into battle if you've only got one lowly unit that's going to be able to use it.
