I don’t know about you, but I am all for a big, interconnected tree of lore in games or series. The MCU, the fabulous marathon that is The Legend of Heroes, and the long-running MMO Runescape. The Ode of the Devourer quest has released and is the continuation of the main story.

Never being allowed a day off, you find yourself summoned by the guardian of the dead Icthlarian. The Devourer is suffering from a curse, and it is down to you to uncover the secrets of the Sanctum of Rebirth and find a way to cure him. Team up with some old friends and cure Bill of Amascut’s curse before his soul is destroyed.

As mentioned earlier, Ode of the Devourer is a hotpot of Runescape lore and as such, you will need to have completed a few quests. As the direct continuation to Requium for a Dragon obviously, you need to finish that and the Fort Forinthry questline that unlocked up. You also need to have ticked off Soul Searching. Luckily, Jagex threw together this little image for us to follow.

Looks like a lot, I know, but it will be worth it. As well as catching up on the story, you will also grab yourself four 50k XP Lamps if you manage to cure Amascut’s curse, which is a delightfully appreciated boost. More importantly, completing Ode of the Devourer is necessary to access the Gate of Elidinis Skilling Boss that opens on September 23rd.

We are still towards the beginning of the Roadmap laid out in Runescape Ahead back in August. There is still a host of content to look forward to in the coming months with skilling updates, seasonal events, and my favourite, Group Ironman mode. So buckle up, it's only going to get better from here.

Runescape is available to download from the App Store and Google Play.
