In platformers, we often spend a large amount of time mindless destroying boxes by jumping onto or into them, whatever makes them splinter apart. Bouncing Box from developer The K Brothers aims to give those poor destructible cubes a chance to be the hero.

The game is available now for Android and will see players taking on the role of a bouncy wooden box as it embarks on a journey to collect all of the gems in the world. It promises to be a hardcore platforming experience that will challenge even veteran fans of the genre.

You can see some of the gameplay in the trailer below. Aside from the fact that you're playing as a box, there doesn't appear to be too much here that will surprise long-time platform aficionados. There will be a plethora of tricky jumps to complete and an abundance of spikes keen to put an end to your current attempt.

That being said, a game doesn't always have to be completely original to be good fun. It has a pretty pixel art style, though it'll possibly be too reminiscent platformers of years gone by for some. If the trailer is anything to go by, however, the soundtrack seems to be a definite highlight.

As you progress through the different levels you can expect to encounter tougher platforming segments and different weather systems in the background to give each area its own mood. Early reviews on Google Play are also pretty positive so if you're looking for a new platform game to play, this might be worth a look.

Bouncing Box is available now over on Google Play. It's a free-to-play game that's supported by ads.
