You know how sometimes it's a struggle to find games to stuck on this list? Well this week the opposite is true. I've had to be ruthless with my selection, cutting away the games that didn't score highly enough when we reviewed them. Even with that, I think this is the biggest list we've had in a good long while.

As usual there are review and download links to make your browsing as easy as possible. And if you've got your own recommendations, make sure you add them to the comments at the bottom of the article. I expect you're going to have loads.

Piloteer - download for iOS (now $2.99)

A game that's all about trying to fly a jetpack. I say trying, because it's really rather difficult. You're going to spend a lot of time smashing your face into the ground, benches, lampposts, and all manner of other obstacles. Luckily though the game lets you progress in baby steps, and even when you fail it's pretty darn funny.

Motorsport Manager Mobile 2 - download for iOS (now 99c)

A brilliant mobile distillation of a simple idea - what would it be like to run your own motorsport team? You're not just telling the drivers what to do here, you're balancing the budget, hiring the mechanics, and making sure everything at the team runs smoothly. It's really well designed, and it's also an awful lot of fun.

Tiny Bubbles - download for iOS (now $3.99)

It didn't come out that long ago, but Tiny Bubbles has had a dollar trimmed off its price. To be honest, it was worth buying before that, so now it's doubly worth buying. It's a match-three puzzler with so many twists you might end up tied in knots. But good knots, not those mean knots that make you sad and lonely.

Thomas Was Alone - download for iOS (now $1.99)

Probably one of the most famous indie platformers on the App Store. It's all about a square making its way through a series of challenging levels. It's also about making friends with other shapes and using their special skills to get from A to B. There's more going on here that I don't want to spoil. If you've not played the game yet, you definitely should.

Deep Dungeons of Doom - download for iOS (now 99c)

A super smart stripped down dungeon crawler that takes the shape of a classic RPG but then cuts out all of the bits that don't have to be there. It makes for a brilliant mobile experience, while still retaining the depth and intrigue that murdering monsters in their lairs offers. And for less than a buck you'd be silly not to buy it.

Ticket to Ride - download for iOS (now $3.99)

One of the best known board games on the App Store is now less than half price. It's all about trains, and connecting the world with tracks. Obviously this being a board game there's much more to it than that, but you're going to have to discover all that for yourself. And you should, especially for such a low price.

Simulacra - download for iOS (now $2.99)

A phone within a phone, Simulacra is a narrative adventure about finding out what happened to the former owner of a cell you've found. It's dark, it's weird, and the familiarity of the UI makes for a really unsettling experience. If you loved Her Story, then you should be picking this one up as soon as humanly possible.

Bottom of the 9th - download for iOS (now $1.99)

You wouldn't think that baseball could be turned into a dice game, but here we are. Bottom of the 9th doesn't just do that, it does it really, really well. There's a career mode here too that sees you upgrading your players to make them even more effective. Even if you don't like Baseball there's a lot to like here.

FTL: Faster Than Light - download for iOS (now $1.99)

Quite simply one of the best games you can play on your iOS device. It's a strategy game about building and piloting a spaceship. Obviously it's more complex than that, but there's so much going on in FTL that it's hard to fit it into a single paragraph. Sometimes it's best not to believe the hype. This is not one of those times.

Door Kickers - download for iOS (now 99c)

A super tense game of tactics. You're controlling a SWAT team and you need to finish a series of tough missions. It's all about positioning, making sure your team is properly equipped, and anticipating what the enemy might do. There'll be times you're going to be chewing your fingernails to the bone with this one.
