Athena Crisis adds a new feature that can turn you into an obnoxious agent of chaos

There are a lot of good games popping up, but few that grab my attention as much as Athena Crisis. It is a delightful callback to the grid-based tactics of old with all the charm you remember. So charming in fact, that the developers felt they needed to give it an injection of mayhem with a new feature.
It is called Invasions and is befitting of that name. During campaign battles, you may happen upon a shiny crystal, and as all gamers are wired to do, you will immediately touch it. At first, it imparts an attack boost to you, for what seems like a lovely time. If only that’s where it ended. Touch the crystal, and you will of just sent out a tantalising invitation to all other players that they can now invade your match. This can take one of three forms depending on the crystal you choose to enter with. Pick the Valor Crystal, and you will hop in with your faction to help combat the AI and any other invaders.

Those PvP amongst you can grab the Command Crystal, taking over the AI of the campaign opponent to give the host a tough time. Or, you can pick the Phantom Crystal, and become an absolute nuisance. You have no allies, and your only objective is to ruin the host's day. This can be done by sneaking into and taking over their HQ, spawning a ton of zombies, or achieving your special custom objective. You will be hated, but you will also laugh.
To see a master at work with this new feature, you can see SneakyDragon try out the new feature in a rather bold way in the video above. He decided to invade the stream of Athena Crisis’ publishers and take over the AI to make it harder for them in front of an audience. It is a chaotic choice, and I adore it.
Athena Crisis is available to purchase for iOS and Android for $19.99.
