Marvel Contest of Champions celebrates The Fantastic Four: First Steps with some good old-fashioned clout theft
The Fantastic Four: First Steps is now out in cinemas, and whether you think Pedro Pascal is horribly cast as Mister Fantastic or not, MCU movies are still big ticket items. Marvel Snap rode its coattails the other week with its themed card releases, and now it is the turn of Marvel Contest of Champions.
Starting today, you can put up your dukes and take on the Dimensional Arcade: Doom Cycle mode. Unfortunately, this is not a rip-off of the old Street Fighter round where we see Deadpool beat the hell out of a motorcycle. It’s probably in a comic somewhere.
Instead, The Dimension Arcade is a portal that thrusts you into the mayhem of the multiverse. Basically, Kabam can do whatever they like with our favourite heroes. Doom Cycle is our first limited-time treat, and follows the Fantastic Four as they combat an army of Doombots. It features an autoplay experience and separate energy resources.
Heaping on the FOMO, there is yet another limited-time mission to try out. Squad Builder is live until August 6th and will test your ability to create a team around synergies. Each Squad formation will be scored based on Factions and Frades, and you will have three rounds of swaps to try to improve your lot.

You can skip these swaps if you are happy with what you got and go straight for the boss fight. This locks your Squad score, so make sure you are set. Taking part in this event rewards you with 52 maxed-out 2-Star champions, so even if you don’t like competing for big numbers, it is worth it.
If you happen to find yourself in Hollywood today or tomorrow, that's July 24th and 25th for our time-travelling readers, you might want to pop over to the El Capitan Theatre. There will be on-site activities for fans, including demo stations for Contest of Champions, complete with gameplay of a special Fantastic Four quest. If you beat the Silver Surfer, you walk away with a H.E.R.B.I.E. pin.
Marvel Contest of Champions is available to download from the App Store and Google Play.
