Jetpac pulls all your Facebook friends' travel photos and runs them through some pretty sophisticated filters as well as past some human beings to bring you the best of the best. This app just got an update and some serious street cred from a 2.4 million investment round, with contributors like Yahoo! co-founder Jerry Yang and an unnamed Facebook executive.
The app itself allows you to save your favorite photos, add where you yourself have been, and create a "bucket list" of places you want to go, all using your Facebook buddies' travel pics. You can view the photos Jetpac chooses as a slideshow, as well, with images organized by destination and friend. In addition, you can comment on the photos themselves with a layer of social interaction, like "love," "want to go," and the like. So far, Jetpac has included over 750 million Facebook photos in their app - small potatoes compared to the nearly 150 billion Facebook photos.
With the new feature introduced in the update, Atlas, Jetpac allows you to search your friend's photos by where they've been. It also allows you to see a list of friends who have shared travel photos in the past.
Techcrunch reports that the company will hire new developers to work on a few user-requested features with the new investment money, including a system for more direct communication with friends in-app. Jetpac is updated and available now in the App Store for free.
