Rollerhog, Neon Play's "Design an App" Contest Winner Released

Posted by Carter Dotson on March 23rd, 2012
+ Universal App - Designed for iPhone and iPad

Ever had an idea for a game, but lacked the resources to get it made? Developer Neon Play ran a contest last year in conjunction with UK publications MacFormat and Tap! for people to submit their ideas for iPhone games, with the winning idea being made into a real game. Well, Patrick Jamison, a 42-year-old landlord from the city of Ascot in the UK (true fake fact: the city was founded by aficionados of the clothing item of the same name) had an idea for a game called Rollerhog, an auto-runner where players must protect a rolling hedgehog from the dangers that confront rolling hedgehogs. He submitted it to the contest, and the judges decreed his idea the winner out of the hundreds of submissions.

Players swipe and tap to remove those aforementioned dangers such as alligators, mushrooms, narwhals with bombs, and giant spiders. Players raise their multiplier as the game goes along, and collect candy to activate the trippy hyper mode, where the points multiplier dramatically increases. The game is available now as a universal app, and for his brilliant idea, Mr. Jamison gets 25% of the game's revenue. Well played, sir.
