Release o' Rama

Posted by Chris Hall on December 10th, 2009

I have decided, as an app reviewer and the editor of this fairly large site, that app developers need to stop putting out apps for the next 3 months... just so we have some time to catch up with some reviews. I appreciate all the effort, but the mind numbing number of releases are just drowning each other out. Right now, the app release schedule would be the equivalent of 100 new releases a week at the movie theater box office. Which one should you see? Do I see the bazillion dollar to make blockbuster or do I choose the indie title with all the buzz. Or heck, maybe you just want to see a comedy or a good action flick. You can only pick a few though, because 100 more are coming next week! The insanity!

Since the app release hiatus will never ever happen, I'll go ahead and highlight a couple of the the newer apps that are making a buzz. I'll try to only cover apps that we haven't reviewed yet... you know, just to be nice.

SEED 1: Rise of Darkness - Chillingo

Being hailed as the Zenonia killer, Seed is an RPG that offers an incredibly deep story with some impressive polish.

In SEED 1: Rise of Darkness, players adventure within a thriving fantasy-RPG universe developed by CH Games. Players begin their adventure as an unskilled apprentice, who must defeat enemy monsters and complete quests to discover new weapons, skills and spells. Eventually, they will become a powerful hero who can change the fantasy world of Kalikoop forever.

Intotia: A Wanderer of Luone - Com2uS
Inotia 2, the sequel of the incredibly deep original Inotia, promises over 200 single player quests and upwards of 40 hours for the single player quest. If you are looking for an absurdly long, incredibly deep RPG with an online matchup mode, this one is definitely for you.

Where's Waldo? The Fantastic Journey - Ludia

Who doesn't know about Where's Waldo? For years and years, Where's Waldo books captivated me by offering a simple challenge, find the guy in the red striped suit. While Waldo's popularity has dwindled a bit (maybe it hasn't, I have gotten a bit older), it is the perfect time waster for long trips. Imagine a 3 hour plane flight. You are fighting mind numbing boredom but just can't throw yourself into something complicated... what to do? Search for a guy with red stripes!
