4 fantastic console to mobile ports

Posted by Jessica Famularo on October 13th, 2016

FIFA Mobile
released this week, and it's made a divide of sorts among fans. On the one hand, it's addictive and the streamlined mechanics make it a good time-filler when you're on the go. On the other, this is definitely not a fullFIFAgame, and probably won't satisfy fans with a greater investment in theFIFAseries.

While FIFA Mobile doesn't promise to be a full FIFAport to mobile, it's sad to see that EA is straying away from bringing that sort of experience to Apple and Android devices. If FIFA Mobile is making you sad with its shift towards short and snappy mobile-friendly gameplay, you'll be pleased to know that there are plenty of games that have made the jump from console to mobile to fill the holes left by your favorite football franchise. Let's take a look at five of the best!

Warner Bros. has announced the addition of a new character to the iOS port of its 3v3 card/fighting game, Injustice: Gods Among Us.

The new character is Darkseid, and he's exclusive to the mobile version of the game. To mark Darkseid's arrival, a special challenge is scheduled from March 6th through March 24th: players will have an opportunity to compete in time-sensitive battles that award an exclusive card piece if completed.

Injustice: Gods Among Us, as noted, is a card-based fighting-style game that pits familiar DC Comics superheroes and villains against each other. Our review last year was generally positive; the app is free to play on the App Store.

Have you been enjoying the hybrid CCG/one-touch fighting game that is Injustice: Gods Among Us? Do you still play it regularly? Well if so, keep at it. And if not you might want to dive back in.

The freemium fighter featuring fan-favorite DC characters (sorry, I ran out of Fs) has recently surpassed one billion (one BILLION) play sessions, and to celebrate Warner Bros. Interactive is giving players a chance to earn major Power Credits. Just play the game for a bit from today (1/30) through Sunday (2/2) and you'll bank 30,000 of the things. That's 30K Power Credits just for playing through the weekend. Not a bad deal, right?

If you already have Injustice: Gods Among Us, just keep playing. Otherwise, if you'd like to take advantage of the offer, you can download it for free and start pummeling Sinestro. Because Sinestro is a jerk.

This mobile version of NetherRealms' upcoming fighting game does a great job at simplifying a console fighting game for mobile, while still having the necessary strategy to make it compelling.
