Gua-Le-Ni is not quite a normal game. In fact, it’s one of the few titles about taxonomy in existence. However, the fans of this odd bird of a game – literally, there’s some odd birds in this hybrid animal creator – can rejoice as there’s a new update for the iPad-only title.

Much like the game itself, the update has two distinct elements. One, there’s new animal parts to combine together. Want to make a Waldor, a half-walrus, half-condor creature in the game’s Fiction mode? Now you can! There’s also a new game mode, Poetry mode, which comes with various new illustrations to help tell a new story with the various chimeric creatures that Gua-Le-Ni conjures up. This mode is designed to be more relaxing in its pace than the Non-Fiction mode, with classical music and the verses of old sonnets to accompany the gameplay. The update is now available, and the game is on a temporary $0.99 sale for the month of June.

A unique puzzle/memory game that turns players into taxonomists. Strange paper creatures waddle across the screen and must be properly categorized before they escape off the page.
