Zuma’s Revenge! HD is a fun and simple app that has addictive gameplay. The game doesn’t offer much variety, but the simple goal of matching 3 of the same colored balls is made more complicated by bosses and power up balls.

The goal of the game is to shoot colored balls at a line of moving colored balls and try to get 3 of the same color in a row. If 3 balls of the same color are lined up, then the balls are removed from the line. If the line of balls reaches the end of the path, the player has lost. The path the balls travel isn’t a trivial straight line, but rather it changes every level. In some levels the line loop back on itself or goes throw passageways.

There are power-up balls in the line that–when in a triplet of 3 similarly colored balls–do something to help the player, like slow down the line of balls or moves the line backwards. Also, pieces of fruit will appear that yield bonus points if shot.

The app includes over 60 levels, with 6 boss levels. The bosses shoot at and stun the player and in return the player must shoot the boss with balls. However, the bosses hide behind the line of balls, which makes defeating them difficult. The boss levels add variety to the somewhat redundant levels.

The biggest problem I had with Zuma’s Revenge! HD was that the levels blur together. The path the balls follow changes, but the gameplay is pretty much the same. The boss levels and power ups do switch things up a little. I would have also liked the inclusion of leader boards.

Overall Zuma’s Revenge! HD is a fun, simple, and addictive game. The levels sometimes feel a little repetitive, but it’s still a great game. It takes mere seconds to learn how to play and can offer hours of entertainment.
