Zombie Purge is yet another rendition of helping humans escape from being lunch for brain eating savages. The game puts the player as a pseudo-god, who can fire down lighting, blow wind and summon steam to slow down or kill off said zombies. While hardcore gore fans will find it's lacking in blood and guts, casual gamers who like a good suspense game will rather enjoy it.
There are a few types of modes within the overall game, including timed mode where the player must keep the humans safe for a set amount of time, point-to-point mode where they must fend off zombies as humans automatically walk towards their safe zone as well as defend mode where the player must keep zombies away from a certain place. All of the modes offer quite a bit of fun and they are randomly chosen as the game progresses.
Gameplay is quite frantic in that the humans are slower than the zombies so the gamer will find themselves constantly fending off foes and will inevitably get a bit frustrated. This is because the player has to scroll around the screen to get to the enemies. Some might find this annoying, but I felt it added some genuine gameplay and excitement to the overall game.
The special deity powers mentioned above (wind, lighting, etc.) can be upgraded. This is a must as the reload times are very long and can make or break a high score. Points are awarded throughout the game for amount of zombies killed and how many humans are saved. These points can be used to buy these upgrades.
Zombie Purge offers just the right mix of intriguing and intense gameplay that is sure to win over most zombie game fans. However, scrolling around the screen to find zombies can be cumbersome and might annoy some.
