Arguably, World’s Biggest Word Search is quite the commitment to undertake. As the name suggests, it’s a huge word search puzzle, broken up into themed sections, comprising of 5,000 words in all. Its makers suggest it will take 40 hours to complete, and from my experience, I have no reason to doubt it.

It’s a well made Word Search, too, perhaps not quite one huge Word Search, but still fun and tempting to keep playing. The puzzle is divided up into 361 themed sections, with the completion of one section offering up a token to be used to unlock others. Themes range from the Old Testament and Card Games to Disney Characters and the Oscars. Somewhat understandably, the level of difficulty changes depending on how familiar one is with such terms.

Controls are simple enough with players having the option to drag a finger across a word, or tap at the starting and ending letter to complete the line.

wordsearch4It’s possible to gain superstar status, for completing a puzzle particularly fast, but World’s Biggest Word Search is still quite a relaxing experience. A trickle of achievements, quests and trophies go some way to add extra purpose to the game, rewarding players for completing certain objectives, and it works. For such a large game, World’s Biggest Word Search needs to offer a reason to persevere and these do the job nicely.

Supplementing the free price of the app, World’s Biggest Word Search comes with banners placed at the bottom of the screen. Occasionally, these can be distracting given their animated nature, but it’s possible to pay $0.99 to be rid of them. A wise decision to make. Coins and tokens can be bought to unlock stages faster, or use hints, but it’s not obtrusive.

World’s Biggest Word Search doesn’t change the idea of the humble Word Search, keeping to the roots, but it is a fun way of doing things. Given its sheer length, it should keep many puzzle book fans happy for a long while to come.
