You’ve seen the amazingly popular TV show, now join in the fun with the all new Wipeout game! Rather than sitting at home watching others on Wipeout, players are invited to take on Wipeout themselves – setting personal bests, unlocking new pieces of kit for your character, and competing with friends via Game Center.

Players of the game may or may not be familiar with the hugely popular TV show. In short, it’s a game show where contestants put themselves through a host of wacky obstacle courses in an effort to win a large cash prize. The aim of the game is not much different. Players will find themselves competing in a plethora of activites that are as zany as can be.

Wipeout the game is just as fun as watching its TV sibling is. All of the eccentric, competitiveness and tense atmosphere translate perfectly to your iPhone or iPad and some players will probably even find themselves wincing once or twice as their player gets wiped out several times like a rag doll. The gameplay is very fun, thanks to the ability to pick up “style points” which can be exchanged for in-game items such as new shows, contestants and power-up helmets.

Even though I throughly enjoyed playing Wipeout, some players may find the controls are a bit finicky at certain times. Once you play through a few of the courses you’ll feel right at home with the controls – so just don’t expect to get a high score on your first time playing!

In Wipeout, players will be competing on some of the wackiest obstacle courses ever imagined, with obstacles ranging from big red balls (aptly called the “Big Balls”) to the classic Topple Towers. One particular aspect of Wipeout that really sets it apart from the others is that instead of punishing players for wiping out, they are rewarded with points that allow them to upgrade their characters to finish the courses in an even more timely fashion. Of course, if a player has an extremely cringe-inducing Wipeout, where would the fun be if they couldn’t revisit it? Wipeout allows players to playback their wipeouts in slow-motion so they can revisit them over and over.

Ultimately, Wipeout is a thoroughly enjoyable game. Players are sure to have fun diving, running and falling all the way to the finish line. The Game Center integration, when combined with the competivie nature of Wipeout, is sure to keep players occupied even when they’ve finished unlocking all the items.
