Nothing I love more than some good retro gaming goodness. And 2079 delivers that for just $0.99.
2079 is a great retro style shooter. You control your ship using the accelerometer by tilting the device. You fire the ships main weapon by using the directional pad in the lower right of the screen. And you set off a smart bomb type device by shaking the phone. This all works fairly well though I did find my finger drifting away from the firing pad occasionally. The game includes some simple power ups such as score multipliers and extra ships.
Shooting, shooting, power-ups, and more shooting. That’s pretty much all there is to the game right now. Survival mode where you just try to get the highest score. Remember when games used to be that simple and we loved it? The developer has promised to ruin that simplicity though by adding some interesting update in future updates.
If you are a fan or retro shooters, or current shooters for that matter, 2079 is worth a look. It’s a great game with nice smooth graphics and it’s at a great price. A special note, there’s an easter egg in the about screen — a special game play mode.
