Flash games ported over to the iOS seem like obvious inclusions into the App Store, and there have been some good ones to come out over the past year. The latest inclusion into App Store is the extremely popular Topsy Turvy, a puzzle platformer that uses shifting gravity and portals to get to the end.
The basic idea of Topsy Turvy is to get from the beginning of the level to the end by taking advantage of the levels shifting gravity. As you move your character around, the world will shift with him, meaning that once you step onto a wall the world orients itself to make the wall the new floor. Nothing in each level is extremely detailed, as the levels only consist of a few platforms with spikes and some sparse moving enemies. Your character starts as a simple stick figure, but you can dress him with clothes and facial expressions that you earn as the game goes on.
My only real complaint with the game is the slightly wonky control scheme. The layout is great but the button response could really use some work. Every once in a while I'll attempt to jump over the spikes only to get caught up for some reason in mid air and fall to my doom. This problem doesn't happen every time I jump, but it happens often enough to be considered an issue.
Other that that minor issue though, Topsy Turvy is a nice puzzle platformer that is approachable by gamers of all skill levels. Some of the early levels (more like the first 3/4 of the games 40 levels) are fairly easy to solve, but the last few levels are a bit tricky. If you like a good platformer that will make you think, be sure to give Topsy Turvy a whirl.
