Tiny Warriors is an update of the classic Paratroopers and Sabotage games that were very popular back in the early 1980s. I vividly remember playing the game on my iPod Mini, so I’m very happy to see a modern take on it. The game doesn’t add many new features and is doesn’t offer anything innovative, but it is a faithful rendition.

Every level of Tiny Warriors is the same: there is a big cannon in the center of the screen and helicopters fly over head from the left and right sides of the screen. Some of the helicopter have enemy paratroopers on them. There is only a need to shoot down the helicopters with enemy soldiers on them and the paratroopers can also be shot after they have jumped from the helicopters and are floating down.

The main constraint of the game is that the cannon has limited amount of ammo. Also, like the classic game Missile Command, the bullets fly towards and explode at the spot the screen is tapped, instead of just flying in that direction until they run off the screen. When enough paratroopers land on the ground, the game is over.

Tiny Warriors does add some new features, like missiles, which have a much larger blast radius. Players can get upgrades by shooting down yellow helicopters. Another upgrade is two paratroopers that stand next to the cannon and help you shoot down enemies. Another neat game mechanic is that shooting down multiple helicopters or paratroopers gives players a combo bonus.

Some nice additional features in the app are an original soundtrack, appropriate sound effects, and stats. The app also integrates with Game Center, so there are leaderboards and achievements.

Overall, Tiny Warriors is a fun, but doesn’t offer any innovative game mechanics. However, it will definitely satisfy anyone who wants a modern version of Paratroopers and Sabotage.
