Astute readers might look at the name of this reviewer and argue why a woman would be a good choice to review an app all about getting the right knot in one’s tie. While, excluding school days, I’ve never had to put a tie on for myself, I’ve still had to help dates or boyfriends put ties on ready for formal events, as well as kids whose school uniforms require it. It’s not easy, so an app like Tie & Mirror looks like the ideal way of making it simpler.
Tie & Mirror offers instructions for 10 different types of tie and knot. It covers the traditional Windsor knot, the Four-in-hand knot, the Half-Windsor, the Plain knot, Cross Knot, Double Knot, Double Cross Knot, The Trend, Prince Albert and the Simple knot. That’s a heck of a lot of different knot types ensuring that there should be something for every tie wearer.
Upon picking a knot, the user is given step by step instructions as to how to achieve the desired result. Even more useful is that of the mirror function on the bottom half of the screen. This section uses the iPhone 4′s front camera so that the tie wearer can see exactly what they’re doing without having to look away from the app’s instructions. It also means that if the user is in a rush, they don’t have to worry about being opposite the bathroom mirror for instance. They could even potentially adjust their tie on the subway or bus!
Tie & Mirror is potentially a great timesaver and all round useful tool for the worker that needs to wear a tie regularly. It’s not always easy to get the desired effect from a tie and a smart appearance is always welcomed by employers and clients. For the asking price, Tie & Mirror looks set to be an ideal way of making a great impression.
