TAPPD is a social networking app with a difference. It’s an app discovery tool that’s keen to help its users find new and great things to try through the App Store. Simple to use, it’s a neat way to find new ideas.
Of course we at 148Apps revel in finding readers great new apps and games to try out, but we’ll readily accept that odds are people will listen to their friends over any website. That’s the ethos that TAPPD taps into, making it easy to suggest things to friends, as well as read their suggestions. It’s a clever idea and simple to get to grips with.
Signing up only takes a moment, then TAPPD suggests a few people to start following before allowing one to explore the interface. Through a series of swipes and taps, it’s all quite intuitive. Initially it might seem a little busy in places, but in a few seconds it all makes sense. A trending section lists the most popular apps or games at that time, with latest Tapps demonstrating what’s going on around the world.
It’s possible to view things according to one’s own particular interests, with as many genre choices as there are on the App Store. A daily recommendation section adds to the options, offering a pick of the day to check out. As easy to use as something like Facebook, it’s pretty simple to like an app or comment on it, as well as add one’s own recommendations.
I was quite impressed with TAPPD. While it doesn’t really lend itself to comprehensive reviews, being more the kind of thing to enter a couple of lines to explain all, it’s a fun way of checking out what friends enjoy. It should hopefully come up with some cool new suggestions, too. Think of it as like the Yelp or TripAdvisor of apps.
