Word search puzzles aren’t conventionally the most exciting way to spend some free time. They are, however, frequently pretty compelling to the word aficionado, especially when in need of something relaxing and calming to play. Super Word Search! offers a pretty comprehensive selection of word search puzzles, alongside multiple different ways of playing them.

Four different ways of competing with Super Word Search! are available. Levels mode is the nearest to that of a campaign mode. A race against the clock, the player must find words at a steady pace in order to add time, win points and progress to the next level of puzzle. The timer isn’t too harsh, providing the player is reasonably swift at spotting new words. In the case of some obscure entries, it can be quite a challenge. Frenzy mode is a twist on Levels, with each puzzle being scrambled up upon completion in a never ending cycle. Timed mode dispenses with any progression by simply pitting the player against the clock. Finally, Relaxed mode is more like conventional word search puzzles with the player able to take as long as they need to find all the words.

Category wise, Super Word Search! offers a similar amount of variation as was available in terms of modes. 14 categories are available, from animals to biology to religion to vocabulary. Each offers a selection of different puzzles to solve, which come together to make over 500 different word searches to complete.

Controls are simple to use with drag and drop playing a key role in selecting a word. A hint system helps those who are truly stumped.

The gameplay is a concept that we all know very well. Super Word Search! won’t convert those who never enjoyed paper based word searches but for fans, it’s an appropriate time waster. The great variety of puzzles should keep anyone playing for a long time to come. It’s also perfectly laid out for future updates to include new puzzle packs.
