Organizational tools for iOS are hardly rare, but tools for organizing leisure activities such as TV show watching? Now that's something new. Showy is one such app and offers a database of over 30,000 different TV shows, just waiting to be collated by an avid TV watcher.
As such a person, I was quite impressed with Showy. It offers plenty in its quest to make it easier to organize TV viewing habits, even if it's not quite perfect yet. It's quite easy to search for a show with Showy recognizing partial matches possible, as well as entering full show titles. Once the relevant show has been found, the app offers up information on each episode and season of the show, what network it airs on and its length. It's then just a matter of swiping down to the episode you're currently on so that Showy knows where you're up to. Once added, the app displays all the shows in a line up with a picture representing each of them. It's a nice touch that ensures Showy looks pretty smart once arranged appropriately.
It doesn't take long at all to add all the shows with the app acting quite responsively. A Trends section is also available to speed things up as it displays the Top 10 shows at the moment. In my case, it reminded me of a few shows I'd forgotten about. For the international viewer, the app caters for more than just US shows, with everything from popular British sitcoms like Spaced and Danish crime dramas such as The Killing viewable from the app.
As an episode tracker, Showy does a great job, although I'd have liked to have seen more integration with other services such as a way to view TV shows in iTunes or a link to the IMDb page for further reference. Other than that, however, Showy is a pretty appealing app. It'll certainly help keep TV show fans keep up to date with where they are on various different seasons.
