I occasionally like a good iOS puzzle game to break up my routine of action games. Puzzlers are a nice change and actually make me use my brain to some extent while having some fun. Oh! Sheep is a fun little casual, puzzle game that follows a group of heroic sheep from another planet as they battle against the evil Dr. Friedrich to save the world from his malevolent plans.

Oh! Sheep is a path-drawing puzzler similar to Spy Mouse. Players are required to draw out a path with their fingers to guide the sheep around the game board and accomplish certain tasks. The main task is to gather colored berries to change the sheep’s wool color to be able to carry out various actions. For example, a sheep will need to eat a yellow berry in order to activate a yellow door to escape from the level to advance. The berries will often times need to be collected in a specific order to be able to complete a level. The levels get progressively more difficult and take some time to think about how to complete them and achieve all the goals. As levels get more difficult, Dr. Friedrich introduces new elements like moving enemies to make the sheep’s quest even more difficult. I think the game has a decent amount of difficulty while keeping it casual enough that it’s fun for both kids and adults.

For some reason or another the alien sheep in this game are the world’s only hope for safety from Dr. Friedrich. The story seems a little strange but this whimsical factor is half of what makes Oh! Sheep fun. While the story might not make the most sense, the sheep are lovable characters and the artwork creates an inviting game environment.

Oh! Sheep is offered as a free download for the first 15 levels. After players complete the 15 levels, an in-app purchase option is available for $0.99 to unlock all 90 levels of the full game. In essence the game is its own lite and full version, which is nice because it gives players a chance to try it out before committing to the full game.

For a simple puzzler that will get players thinking, Oh! Sheep is a nice addition to the genre. The first 15 levels are a generous amount of free levels to get a feel for the game and the $0.99 price tag is worth the total 90 levels. Anyone who enjoyed Spy Mouse and other path-drawing puzzlers should definitely pick this one up.
