ShakeASnack is a pretty clever idea for an app. It’s tough to know what snack to make sometimes, especially if you’re severely lacking in inspiration. ShakeASnack takes out the decision making process. Instead all you have to do is shake your iOS device (or press the shake button if you prefer) and it comes up with an idea for a snack.
Some of these snacks are more convoluted than others but they’re all pretty good ideas. There are a lot of different ingredients that you can use and you can switch between savory or sweet depending on your preference. The instructions are very simple and even have the decency to include calorie details.
You can save your favorites separately so that it’s quick to check back on them. Also if you’re a picky eater or have certain intolerances or allergies you can untick food items so that they don’t come up. Like a real jackpot machine, you can ‘lock in’ certain items so that you have some control over the recipe selections. This is particularly useful if you only have limited supplies in your fridge and you don’t want to discover something that sounds amazing, but requires a load of ingredients you don’t already have.
ShakeASnack is a fun little app offering over 200 recipes in all. There’s the potential for more in future updates as there is a button to submit your own snack ideas – this is a cool idea. The additional tips it provides are also rather handy. If you fancy a quirkier form of cooking app, you could do a lot worse than this. It really is oddly fun and some of the recipes are great!
