There are a ton of zombie games in the App Store, some better than others. R.I.P. Rally is absolutely one of the better zombie-killing experiences out there. In this game, players use a variety of weapons, ranging from machine guns to flame throwers, to mow down the hordes of undead that appear. These weapons may be attached to one of several vehicles that also become weapons, giving players the ability to plow through wave after wave of zombie attack. While this is a freemium app, the in-app purchases are not overly intrusive, making this a very playable free game.
The objective is to survive wave after wave of zombie hordes by using a vehicle and mounted weapons. Players race around an arena where zombies instantly emerge from the earth. The more waves players survive through, the more cash and coins are earned, providing the ability to upgrade weapons and vehicles. There are five vehicles and seven weapons to unlock. Weapons may be upgraded to make them more powerful, while vehicles are upgraded by adding front and side protection panels to make them last longer. Even though there are only three arenas to play in, there is a ton of other content that supports the game's replay value. In this game, what really drives players is the desire to unlock more weapons and to deck out the cars with bigger and better armor.
Controls consist of two thumb sticks; the left one drives the car and the right one shoots. While the controls take a bit of getting used to, they work very well after some practice.
While the graphics and sound effects are absolutely solid, the fun and addicting gameplay is really what makes this game great. Players continuously find satisfaction and enjoyment in battling zombies. This game, while taking advantage of this unwavering desire, adds a unique twist of being able to run over and plow through zombies with cars and tanks. While it would be nice to have more arenas to play in, the game really does provide a great deal of content that makes players come back for more. While this is definitely a game worth downloading, beware of those in-app purchases.
