Writing a resume is a tricky business. They have to be catered to each job, certain content is questionable and every employer has their own style preferences. A resume with a photo might be appropriate for certain positions, but more often that not it'll invite a laugh in the face at the sheer arrogance of it all. I know, I'm getting stressed out thinking about it too, and I already have a job. Resume Designer Pro hopes to help those who don't by producing simple, elegant and most importantly, professional resumes that can be stored for future use.
The interface is simplistic, but the last thing those who are looking for a job want is a barrage of information, much less a complicated user experience. The example resumes are good for getting a feel for the types of templates available, and even provide some useful phrases to use later, in the composition process.
To build a new resume (and cover letter if required), users have to choose which fields they would like to include (from Key Skills to Education) and then simply fill in the content box with self-praising goodness or, let's face it, stretched truths (I've been there). Once this is complete, users can flick though the different templates, all of which bring a different feel to the resume. Colors are utilised in half of them and it's genuinely eye-catching. Unfortunately there are only 6 available at the moment, which is a bit stingy for the price in my opinion. The beauty of this app though is that users can switch between these templates at will, before sending them off via email or exporting them to Evernote, Dropbox or Google Drive.
It simply means that customizing and molding resumes to fit in with a certain employer's expectations or style is quick and painless, making the application process that little bit easier. For that, Resume Designer Pro is a great addition to the iPhone of anyone who is currently on the job hunt.
