Red Bull Kart Fighter World Tour is a fast-paced racer that brings players from around the world together to compete against each other for money and glory. The free app and its recent update bring new controls, faster speeds and double the amount of tracks.
The game offers a challenge mode to battle up to six players, one at a time, to see who gets the fastest lap. This comes in very handy when someone doesn’t have an iPhone laying around or if a group of friends are just sitting around and wanting to strike up a personal challenge. There is a World Tour mode as well and is where I spent most of my time racing. It’s a fairly robust game in that it offers race tracks form around the world, practice and race options as well as a points system that is fully integrated with Facebook.
The racing mechanics are easy to control as well and is key to making this a great racer. Trust me, there’s nothing worse than bad controls and slow response times, especially when trying to graze hairpin turns to shave seconds off lap times. I think this is where the game shines the most.
However, there are some very rough obstacles such as fences and tires that if hit are pretty much the end of the race since there is no backwards control. There is only left and right. I think a reverse option would be a nice addition for a future update.
Racing through the White House and over the Oval Office was a lot of fun, though I did make sure to clean the rug after the race out of respect. Overall, Red Bull Kart Fighter World Tour is a very addictive app with a lot of gaming time and is definitely recommended at the low price of free.
