Predator Simulator lets you play a psychotic lion. That's a fun thing.

Predator Simulator is an underdeveloped good idea, but let’s focus on the positive idea side of things: you control a lion as he sets out to wipe out humanity. Yeah, it’s a fairly bloodthirsty game, but it's an interesting one.

A couple of minutes worth of tutorial teaches you all you need to know. You drag your finger around the screen to look around, with a finger in the bottom left of the screen dictating the direction you take. Attacking is a matter of double-tapping and there’s a lot of that. You’re given objectives such as kill rednecks or civilians or even chickens. There’s a lot of killing going on but it all feels oddly light hearted, even when you tap on their bodies in order to eat them.

As you progress, things get trickier and your Defcon level rises, much like in a Grand Theft Auto game. Threats get tougher too but that’s all part of the fun. More humor comes from the live tweeting of your future victims, and it’s satisfying to see how roaring at them can send out a flurry of alarming tweets. It all makes a change from being a gangster committing similar offences.

You can even share what you’ve accomplished through photo and video recording, which is a neat touch.

However, Predator Simulator doesn’t look great and its controls are a little clumsy at times, meaning it isn’t quite as well-realized as you’d hope. For every time you’re satisfied to snag your prey, there’s another time where you’re irritated to miss because you were trying to move camera around as well as run around at the same time.

It is, however, an interesting change of pace. I certainly haven’t played anything like it before, and soon found myself encouraging the lion on in his quest to kill a variety of stupid individuals.
