Photo Movie Creator Review

There are a great many different apps vying for the attention of the sentimental photographer. While the iPhone encourages users to take as many photos as possible of special occassions, sometimes it can be a bit fiddly to use these photos in an attractive way. For the complete novice there's now Photo Movie Creator from Sony Digital Network Applications. While it might feel a little basic for the creativity veteran, it's perfect for those who just want quick and effective results.

To create a photo movie, users simply need to tap on the create movie button and choose from their photo library. Options are arranged via the date in which they were taken, the event or the location. Immediately the app goes into action and produces a slideshow of the photos to an accompanying background style and music. Users can then simply stick with that or add their own twist on things. There's a choice of 18 themes in all with 3 themes to each of the 6 categories. The categories consist of the likes of Travel, Wedding, Kids, Sports, Weekends and Everyday life with accompaning musical scores included. It's possible to then mix and match such thematic elements as well as change the order in which photos are displayed. Titles and other captions can also be added to give some explanation to the display.

Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any way of mixing and matching different photo groups which is slightly annoying but otherwise flexibility is pretty strong. Even music from the iOS device can be used within such movies although they can't be uploaded to Facebook like the rest of the displays.

Photo Movie Creator is a simple app but sometimes that's all that's needed. For more experienced users, it's a bit underwhelming (and I'll admit to counting myself as one of those) but for those who just want a simple and fast way of making their photos look a bit more interesting, this is an ideal app. It could well provide a great way of sprucing up the holiday snaps quickly!
