Om Finder isn’t about locating the specific yoga chant. Instead, it helps users find yoga nearby. It’s perfect for studio hopping, new yoga enthusiasts in the area, making yoga friends or anyone looking to discover new teachers and classes.
To get started, allow Om Finder to access the iPhone’s current location. Tap on find class, and the app brings up a list. If there are too many to search through, filter the results by typing in a specific teacher, class or studio.
Om Finder instantly pulled up a list of classes nearby on my iPhone. I was amazed at how many were available in my area just for today. Tapping on a class brings up more information and options. When users find a class they wish to attend, they can add it directly into the app to schedule a reminder which gives the app access to the iOS calendar. However, users must login with Facebook or sign up with the app in order to use this feature.
Other great features include a map with directions, teacher name and bio when available, the ability to invite a friend and the option to share the class via email, message, Twitter or Facebook. There are other settings to explore, but they are a little difficult to find at first. Users must go to the Profile section of the app to adjust things like privacy settings, notifications, calendar settings and unit of measurements.
Despite the fact the settings area is slightly hidden, Om Finder still has an excellent interface. I was easily able to find my way around without a tutorial. Although the interface is great, there are just a few improvements that could help make things even better like an option to copy phone numbers or auto dial them within the app, a way to look up prices or visit a studio’s website within the app and an option to limit the distance searched.
