Enjoy last year's Speedway GP 2012? In which case, Official Speedway GP 2013 is the natural game to go to next. It's the updated version of its predecessor and besides one or two simple changes, the same game again.

That brings with it issues. For those who already have the earlier game, is it worth it? Probably not. There's the new Helmet Cam which means players can view the race from a first person perspective, plus the promise of double experience when played during a live Speedway GP race. That's pretty much it, though. Only the biggest of Speedway fans will probably be tempted by either of those features.

For those who didn't play the earlier instalment, however, Official Speedway GP 2013 does offer a quite fun if potentially repetitive racing experience. Given that Speedway involves racing around an oval track, Official Speedway GP 2013 keeps to its roots, offering a career mode as well as a quick race option full of oval tracks. The career mode leans a little too heavily on the temptation of in-app purchase funded upgrades, but is otherwise competent.

Controls are available in the swiping and tapping variety. In both cases, players mostly just need to keep to the correct driving line, staying on the outside on a straight and moving in tight on the corners. It's simple but the competition can prove quite strong, adding some challenge to the game.

Much like its predecessor, though, things can get repetitive. It can't be helped given the source material, but it does make one long for a bit of variety. Still, Official Speedway GP 2013 does what's needed reasonably well. It's not one to recommend for those who have played the earlier incarnation, given it's so similar, but those desperate for a motorbike fix should be happy.
