With Halloween approaching, it's important that all of the monsters romaing the streets have a place to stay in order to avoid the infamous trick or treaters, and Monster Mansion puts the player in a pivotal position in relation to this role - managing the mansion where monsters of all shapes and sizes can come and hide out, sit back and relax.
The main goal of the game is simple: build up the mansion until it goes from an avaerage monster hideout, into a world-class hotel where monster's can look forward to staying! Throughout the game players will have the oppertuninty to colllect monsters of all shapes and sizes, ranging from the horrifying Mummy to the not so horrifying Frankenstein!
Monster Mansion's new spin on hotel-building really does it make it fun to play. But of course, what's the point in building a house full of monsters if there aren't any humans to scare - thankfully, Monster Mansion has this covered. Players can build rooms from libraries to insectariums, all in the name of scaring the daylights out of innocent humans!
It's reasonably difficult when playing this game to not realise that it does have certain elements of Tiny Tower in it - but seeing as the change of scenery is so massive, its forgivable. Monster Mansion is a game most of you would probably describe as freemium, which basically means that in-app purchases can be used to progress faster in the game.
I find that Monster Mansion actually is quite a reasonable freemium game. You can get coins from your monsters, through in-app purchases and through the daily scratcher - which is a scrathcard you get everyday. In Monster Mansion, players are also invited to visit other mansions and help them out, which is a nice touch.
Monster House will definitely appeal to those who love both spooky and tycoon games - but I don't see this game winning people who aren't already infatuated with those genres over because of the lacking visuals and dull pace. For those who want to build the best mansion full of ghouls known to all of humanity, however, this is the game for them.
