If you were anything like me as a kid, you used to draw mazes on paper for your friends to try to complete. Mazecraft is an update of this concept, allowing you to do exactly that on your iOS device before sharing it with friends around the world. It’s pretty fun too, although some control issues can be a little jarring.

Starting out, you can try out a variety of different mazes created by others. These vary wildly in difficulty level as you’d expect. The vast majority are ancient world themed, due to a space theme requiring you to earn plenty of in-game currency to unlock it. A well made maze has plenty of twists and turns but also some tricky obstacles. These can be levers that activate boulders, pits, or even minotaurs out to get you. There’s plenty of choice here, with the space theme adding the likes of airlocks and sentry turrets.

Of course, by being so community driven, there need to be some convenient tools for making your own mazes. Fortunately, Mazecraft does a pretty good job of this. Create a level and you can add many different things by simply tapping on the relevant section and including it. Sensibly, you need to be able to complete the maze to be able to publish the maze. That does, however, mean if you’re great at creating fiendish things but poor at completing them yourself, you might run into an issue, but it’ll encourage you to do better.

Mazecraft offers a plentiful supply of new things to unlock as you play through, so it’s worth sticking around and becoming increasingly active within the community. Indeed, it’s that kind of attitude that will ensure that this people driven game will continue to thrive. It’s certainly interesting enough to deserve the momentum.
