The name proves to be the most exciting thing about this fairly underwhelming Endless Runner.

As a huge fan of superhero games and the world of Marvel, I jumped at the chance to try out Marvel Run Jump Smash!. Disappointment came all too quickly. It's an Endless Runner in the vein of Jetpack Joyride and one that doesn't really give players a sense of progression by any means.

Players are initially given the choice of controlling either Nick Fury or Maria Hill, with more characters available to play as things tick along within the game. Captain America, Black Widow, Iron Man, and The Hulk are there for the grabbing, assuming one catches their shield shaped icon to switch out to them.

Unfortunately, while such moments frequently occur, it doesn't change the nature of the gameplay sufficiently. Players are still running from left to right, tapping one button to jump and the other to shoot at the enemies they encounter. While Iron Man might be able to fly and Black Widow can double jump, such abilities never feel truly realized. Instead, it's an increasingly unexciting experience only occasionally cheered by the presence of Loki; there to remind one of what could have been.

It's possible to buy upgrades such as coin multipliers or distance boosters, but they're a bit uninspired and there's never that urge to work hard towards permanent upgrades - something that works well in other Endless games. It's also possible to buy new characters such as Hawkeye and Thor, but these require either an insane amount of grinding (an average of 300 coins per session and 80k to buy a character? Ouch) or a not inexpensive in-app purchase or two.

Marvel Run Jump Smash! doesn't offer enough ingenuity to make such time or monetary investment worthwhile. Even as a huge Marvel fan, I struggled to feel as enthused about the game to an appropriate level. It's all just a little too safe and lacking excitement.
