Klopex Galactic Bubble for iPhone is a standard match 3 bubble game that will remind anyone of the retro arcade game Bust A Move. There are many similar games available in the app store and the game mechanics in this one are pretty standard. However, there are a few neat and different features.
Players shoot colored eyeballs at a board of eyeballs and attempt to match three of the same color. Matching 3 eyeballs of the same color causes them to disappear from the board and awards the players points.
The controls are very intuitive: simply tap and the eyeball is fired in the direction of the tap. The eyeballs will bounce off the wall and stick to the first other eyeball it touches.
Some eyeballs have score multipliers, and in time attack modes, players get additional seconds instead of multipliers. There is a pretty short time limit for shooting the eyeballs, so players have to make quick decisions. If the eyeballs reach below the laser beam at the bottom of the level, then the game is over.
Klopex Galactic Bubble for iPhone includes a local multiplayer with an online multiplayer coming soon. Local multiplayer just means that there are two boards on the same screen, one for each player. Unsurprisingly, it really doesn’t make sense to play a game of local multiplayer on an iPhone or iPod Touch since the screen is so small.
The version of the app that players can download from the app store is the free version, which has the first 22 levels. Players can purchase the full version in the app for $1.99, which will unlock all 120 different levels.
There are 6 modes in the game, including Classic, Time Attack, Survival, Horde, Space Trek, and Boss Mode. The space trek mode is very interesting. It’s not really like the rest of the game and it’s definitely not what I was expecting. Players control a ship that is flying through space and has eyeballs on the front of it. Players can shoot the eyeballs at asteroids, enemy ships, and groups of eyeballs. The enemy ships even shoot at players. It’s pretty challenging to avoid all of the asteroids and enemy fire, while destroying enemies and matching eyeballs.
Overall, Klopex Galactic Bubble for iPhone is a typical bubble game. It has a couple interesting and unique additions, like the space trek mode, but the main gameplay is pretty standard. If online multiplayer is added soon, it could make it very appealing.
