Hiqup is a beautifully designed peg jump type of game combined with a puzzle game. It includes some interesting game variations on those themes including 57 different game boards.

Peg jump type games start you with a board with some spaces filled and some blank. The goal is to jump one peg over another to a blank space. The peg that is jumped over is then removed. Winning the board requires that you remove all but one peg. Hiqup adds to this standard game with multiple piece types — some can be moved 4 directions, some 8 directions. Different board types are also includes with spaces that can’t be jumped to and holes where pieces disappear.

Included is a fantastic tutorial that walks you though the entire game and it’s rules and variations. The only difficulty we had with the game was occasionally selecting pieces. The pieces on the screen are rather small. The 1.1 release made great strides in fixing that minor issue but it can still require extra tries.

Hiqup is a fantastic game. Beautifully designed and very engaging. It’s easily worth the price of $1.99. And if you don’t believe me, there’s a demo version available as well. Give it a shot, it’s one of the best puzzle games in the App Store.
