GoTranslate for Google Translate™ is a near ideal translation app. It’s simple to use and provides accurate results for 66 different languages. The only restrictions come from its reliance on an internet connection and the lack of sharing options.
There’s no tutorial for GoTranslate for Google Translate™ as it’s not really needed. Loading the app presents users with some pretty obvious options. A box to input text and two menus for choosing what languages to work between. As a default setting, GoTranslate for Google Translate™ offers an auto detect language setting so that users can enter any text and the app should determine what language it stems from. Through my tests of a number of languages, it’s pretty accurate, also. Although, as is often the case with translation tools, accurate spelling is vital for the service to work.
It’s only a matter of a couple of taps to adjust languages accordingly so users can either translate to or from any of the selection. Copying and pasting makes it easy to move text from another app to this one, although I’d have liked a way to translate an entire website by pasting the link rather than the text itself.
GoTranslate for Google Translate™ boasts a translation history feature so it’s easy to look back at previously translated text for reference, plus this is accessible offline rather than solely online. Syncing via iCloud means that iPhone and iPad users can check their work from either device.
Limitations come in the form of the lack of sharing options. While it’s easy enough to copy the text, direct tweeting or emailing would have been very useful here and would have made the whole process much faster. Other than that, however, GoTranslate for Google Translate™ is a pretty useful tool. It does precisely what most users would need.
