Goop. It's a pretty special word isn't it? Very onomatopoeic in the way that it just matches the idea so very well. Goop conjures up those images of slimey balls of, well, goop. In the case of Goop the game, they're drops of goop that fall from the sky in order to stop the family of Eeeps from getting home. Eeeps look a little like goop but with eyes and a mouth that instantly makes them all the more endearing. As has become quickly obvious, Goop is a simple game but with a bundle of charm.
The idea behind it is extremely simple. Players must tap to make the Eeep jump and move quickly across the screen, carefully dodging the goop. Swiping a finger to the left holds them back a little providing a useful way of saving the Eeep from being 'gooped' upon. Each Eeep has its own personality with four in all. Normy is the confident Eeep keen to move on in their journey, Dafty is prone to confusion while Plumpy moves slowly as the name suggests cumbersomeness. Then there's the miniature Bitty, a baby Eeep that promises a spirited attitude.
Goop isn't a deep game. While there are four different backdrops to navigate through, each rather attractive in appearance, the actual gameplay never differs. Guide these Eeeps across the screen and away from the danger of goop with action becoming faster and faster the longer players hold out for. The main focus is on gaining a better high score than last time with a collection of Game Center achievements and leaderboards adding extra impetus. It's the kind of game that lends itself to pick up and play fun. Players won't find themselves spending hours on end enthralled by it but they will find Goop an enjoyable game to play in short 10-15 minute bursts.
