Giffer! does exactly this. It allows you to take photos from your album and string them together, producing a GIF file. For those who aren't familiar with file types, GIF is essentially an animated filetype. Like a regular photo, it can be embedded on pages, sent via e-mails or shared via text messages. Unlike a video file, a GIF features only a few frames, played back to back immediately upon being loaded by your browser.
Giffer!'s interface is nicely designed, making it easy to use. There are also some appreciated extras as far as the editing process goes. You're able to determine the length of the frame delay, turn loop on or off, add a colored border and create a title for your GIF. And after you've created your GIF, you can choose how to export it. You're able to choose from sharing the file on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, through e-mail or via SMS.
While Giffer! appears to be a well-designed app that does exactly what it claims, I can't help but wonder… what's the point? Perhaps I'm alone on this, but I simply can't imagine finding much use for this app. It's fun to toy around with for a couple of minutes, but in the several years that I've owned an iPhone, I have yet to ever think, "I wish I could create a GIF on my phone."
Perhaps you're different. Perhaps Giffer! sounds totally amazing – the answer to a dilemma that's troubled you since the launch of iPhone. If so, go wild. I'm certainly not going to slam the app simply because it doesn't fit any personal needs of my own. But the one thing I do maintain: two dollars is too much for this.
