Some games don't have to re-invent the wheel to be fun - they just are anyhow. Go Go Ghost is one such title. It's a level-based auto-runner and one that might not offer the most original of ideas, but it gets by on charm and simplicity.

Players control a surprisingly cute skeleton as he runs and leaps his way through various levels. Go Go Ghost offers simple controls where one tap causes the skeleton to jump while a double-tap makes him double-jump. Early levels require very little thought or particularly fast reactions but the introduction of enemies and more varied pits means that Go Go Ghost soon ends up more taxing.

Each stage offers an objective that must be completed in order to pass. These usually correlate to destroying a certain number of enemies or collecting a certain number of points or stars. At certain moments boss battles will open up, but the format doesn't change hugely here. Instead, it's just a matter of collecting special ammo in order to fling it at the giant foe.

On a slightly more original note, help can be gained through the use of mounts and magical creatures that can be used to activate special abilities. It's essentially a form of upgrade system with such things purchased through the acquisition of coins. It works well in keeping Go Go Ghost varied, though.

What's not so enjoyable is the existence of a dreaded energy bar, restricting how often one can play unless they three-star missions regularly. Fortunately, Go Go Ghost is the kind of game to play in short bursts rather than extended sessions but it's something to be aware of.

Go Go Ghost doesn't revolutionize the genre in any way but that matters less than one would expect. It's cute and easy to enjoy, even if it won't stick in the mind for a very long time afterwards.
