Qube Kingdom is a tower defense game from DeNA. You rally your troops – magicians, archers, knights, barbarians, and others – and fight against an evil menace looking to dominate your kingdom of tiny squares.

Planning a war isn’t easy, so here are a few tips to help you take apart your enemies.

Attention All Cube Warriors:
Want to know what we thought of all this qube carnage? Take a look at our Qube Kingdom review!

Starting Out

qubequestguide_01

  • Remember: some fighters have elemental affinities. Certain classes of Questors have an elemental type, which is indicated by a symbol on their profile. There are three affinities: Magic, Metal, and Nature. Magic bests Metal, Metal bests Nature, and Nature bests Magic. Enemies likewise take and deal more damage according to their affinities; if a particular enemy has an affinity, you’ll see a small icon pop-up beside them as they take damage. Remember, neutral Questors like knights and archers can’t deal element-based damage – but neither are they penalized by elemental attacks.
  • Make friends and accept friend requests for powerful allies. The “qlubhouse” (the blue-and-white tent beside your “barraqs”) is where you can recruit allies, including Facebook friends that are already playing the game. Allies can be a valuable way to get automatic access to powerful Questors, and they’re also the best way to get social qubes. Social qubes can be used to recruit new Questors, and you get a few every time you complete a battle with the aid of another player’s Questor. If you register a Questor as a friend, you get more social qubes every time they help out.

To Arms!

qubequestguide_02

  • Take advantage of each battle’s slow start to learn the lay of the land. Enemy waves intensify the longer a battle goes on. Take advantage of slow early waves by getting a feel for the layout. Where are your Questors most effective? What kind of enemies are being thrown at you? Are there any quobelisk traps you can trigger to your advantage?
  • Place long-range attackers first. Long-range attackers are out of harm’s way – at least until other archers and/or magic users come onto the field. Enemy waves usually start with melee attackers, so soften things up a bit by putting long-range attackers onto the battlefield.
  • Don’t activate red quobelisks! Quobelisks – block-shaped switches on the battlefield – are triggered when a certain number of enemies are killed nearby. Red quobelisks will damage your party members if they’re activated, so keep your Questors as far from them as possible.
  • Do take advantage of other quobelisks, however. Don’t steer away from quobelisks of other colors, though; they’re very beneficial. For instance, blue quobelisks activate roadblocks that re-route your enemies or block their path. Yellow quobelisks activate a fire trap that can clear a crowd of enemies in a second.
  • Upgrade your Questors during battle, but don’t go crazy too early. You can spend cubes to upgrade your Questors during a fight. However, during the early stages of a battle you should spend your resources on covering the field with Questors. Once everyone is placed you can focus on upgrades to your fighters’ hit points and attack strength.

Surviving the Onslaught

qubequestguide_03

  • Upgrade your Questors as soon as you have the resources to do so. The blue qubes you earn after successful battles lets you permanently make your Questors stronger. Access their profiles while they’re camping, and select “upgrade.”
  • Check the award boards for valuable rewards. Woo hoo! Free stuff! Earning achievements unlocks rare qubes and other rewards.  Make sure to visit the bulletin board from time to time. They’re just south of your barraqs. Unclaimed rewards vanish after a few days, so don’t forget about them.
  • Stuck? Do some level grinding. Even if you lack elite qubes to summon rarer, more powerful Questors, your common Questors can still be made more powerful by upgrading them. Doing so requires blue qubes, which can be won in battle. If you’re having trouble with a level, re-visit old levels and grind for blue qubes.

Alien Creeps TD is Now Available Worldwide

Posted by on August 29th, 2014
+ Universal App - Designed for iPhone and iPad

Announced back in July, Outplay Entertainment‘s tower defense title, Alien Creeps TD, has made its way onto the App Store. Featuring over 50 different towers and three different game modes to partake in, players will need to deploy their towers and troops properly in order to save the Earth from the hostile alien hordes.

Alien Creeps TD is available on the App Store now and is free to download.

The world of Motorsport management can be an unforgiving and merciless one, so to help with some of the stress that comes with running a successful race team, here are a few hints and tips to leave your opponents in the dust.

Attention New Managers:
Want to know what we thought of all this behind-the-scenes racing stuff? Then check out our Motorsport Manager review!

Hit the track

IMG_1546.PNGIMG_1539.PNG
The track is where all of the action happens, so getting the best out of the drivers and their cars in the ever-changing conditions is a must.

  • Use the qualifying rounds as a way of testing out the best approach for the track ahead. Sending out a driver for a couple of laps at a time can really give you a sense of what strategy works best, which will be evident by the lap times presented in the strategy screen afterwards. During the qualifiers you can cancel a lap if a setup clearly isn’t working out in order to make the best use of the limited number of laps available. Therefore, it’s best to play the qualifiers in normal or slightly heightened playback speed. Fast-forward will just lessen the chance that you’ll catch a driver before he zooms past on another doomed lap.
  • Pay attention to the tactical suggestion and track layout before each qualifier. You’ll only see this once. If the course has long straight sections, prioritize top speed, straights, and soft tires for pure speed and an advantage in overtaking. If it’s heavy on corners, prioritize cornering and acceleration to be quick off of sharp bend, with hard tires to bear the burden of excessive use of the brakes. If it’s a mix of both try a neutral approach, with wet tires for wet conditions.
  • Soft tires are great for speed, but keep an eye on the tire meter. Especially if you prefer to watch the race at an accelerated speed. A dilemma might not always be there to alert you of the need for a pit stop, but quickly dropping 5 positions might!
  • If your drivers are doing well, enter the strategy menu to ‘conserve ‘ their resources and take the strain off of their equipment. Likewise – particularly when using soft tires – enter the pit stop for the final time when entering the final 1/3 of the race. You don’t want to be making a pit stop or face an in-game dilemma on the penultimate lap.

Let’s talk business

IMG_1575.PNG IMG_1578.PNG
Only half the game actually takes place on the track. The other half is equally, if not more important – and that is what goes on behind the scenes, in preparation for the big race.

  • When you take a look at the car performance breakdown screen, you’ll see where best to invest money in your team. While Aerodynamics is important for a nimble and lightweight car, the Design and Manufacturing divisions play a greater role in overall racing performance, so put money into their headquarters and staff first.
  • Keep an eye out for hints on the in-game social media. If fans and critics don’t rate a driver, maybe it’s time to release him (or perhaps wait it out if there is only a few months on his contract) and look for some new talent? The Young Drivers program – once unlocked – yields low cost but talented individuals that can breathe some life into your team.

Ultimately, Motorsport Manager rewards dedication and perseverance. Players should shrug off the occasional nightmare run (in which their car basically falls to pieces out of nowhere), dig their heels in, and strap-in for the long haul. If they, do they’ll see satisfying results and a team worth their weight in gold (or just loads of imaginary money, really).

Bedtime for Sarah Sullivan is a children’s storybook that emphasizes the importance of going to bed, dreams, and those magical moments right before being tucked in.

Now Kelly Paniagua, author of the award-winning children’s book, is planning to bring an interactive story app based on the very same bedtime story to the App Store. Very soon, in fact. Bedtime for Sarah Sullivan marks the first in a planned series of ten, and the intention is to release an app shortly after each title goes to print.

bedtime05bedtime01The Bedtime for Sarah Sullivan app includes pretty much everything parents would want in an interactive bedtime story: narration, highlighted text to aid with reading along, character voices (supplied by Paniagua’s own daughter as well as her husband, Julian McMahon), animations, and of course some interactive bits. A couple of mini-games have also been included. One involves flying through space collecting ingredients for baking cookies (finishing the game also reveals a recipe for “Galaxy Cookies”), while the other is about finding hidden animals and learning about nocturnal versus diurnal behavior.

What’s most intriguing about Bedtime for Sarah Sullivan is the special Coloring Activity. It’s actually based on Dr. Wayne Dyer’s theory about how what we see, do, and think about right before bed (about 30 minutes or so) can affect both our dreams and our mood when we wake up. Paniagua wanted to know, “What if you implemented this at a developmental age?”

bedtime06The idea is for children to use their imagination and draw up something right before bed, and an “Idea Generator” is also available if they have trouble thinking of something. What they draw and/or the mood it puts them in (preferably happy) should, in theory, have an impact on their dreams. Drawings can be saved from within the app to your device’s camera roll for easy sharing, too.

Bedtime for Sarah Sullivan is available on the App Store right now for $2.99 (no in-app purchases). If you’re interested in the physical book as well, you can pick it up in stores now for $13.95.
