GPS planning is all well and good, but sometimes it's just not practical. Either in terms of conserving battery life or simply because one managed to forget their phone (it happens, honest), sometimes it's just more convenient to record a route after the event has occurred. Footpath Route Planner is an app that makes this process much simpler. Taking hardly any time at all to plot out a path, it's a handy tool for those who want to know how much distance they've covered.
Admittedly, it's the kind of thing that Google Maps also makes possible but Footpath Route Planner is a simpler and quicker way of doing such things. It's just a matter of drawing the route with a finger and the app does the rest. It's possible to get it to snap to roads, further simplifying things and meaning that one doesn't have to worry about accurate lines.
Alongside that, Footpath Route Planner can loop the path to take one on a circuit route, or simply double back on itself, offering up the relevant distances travelled. Elevation profiles as well as a choice of miles or kilometers further add to the flexibility of it.
Priced at $0.99, Footpath Route Planner allows one to set up five favorite routes for those who take the same path often. For an extra $3.99, it's possible to upgrade to the Elite version that allows for an unlimited number of routes, iCloud syncing, extra maps support, and the option to export routes to GPX or KML files. For the average user though, the $0.99 version should do everything that's needed.
The crucial selling point behind Footpath Route Planner is its simplicity and privacy. There's never any need to worry about sharing information elsewhere, plus it really doesn't take long to create a route here. It's a handy tool for those trying to keep track of how much distance they cover, regardless of the means in transportation that they use.
