If you have kids (or just channel surf a lot) you've probably come across the Disney Channel show Fish Hooks. The shows premise is extremely simple; a group of fish get into various misadventures in their fish tanks. This simplicity also translates into the game, where the object is to use various methods to pick up apples and get into the exit tube.
The main objective in Fish Hooks is to use the bubbles that are created by tapping any part of the screen to enable whichever fish the player has chosen to avoid obstacles and pick up apples. It may sound simple, but as the levels progress, players may find that they are forced to use their wits more and more.
One thing that really impresses with Fish Hooks is the graphics. Disney has developed a colorful, fun and approachable underwater world in this game - something players are sure to take to well! Disney has also hit the nail on the head when it comes to creating a game that completely immerses you (such as Infinity Blade II) and ones that players can pick up and play on your commute (such as the famous Angry Birds Rio). I found that I was able to pick up Fish Hooks on my commute to school, and then happily play it for a long period of time without tiring of it while at home.
That's not to say I found all the levels wildly different from the previous ones. Some players may notice that as they progress in the game, levels begin to feel familiar.
Fish Hooks is a physics-based game that takes place in a very unusual fish tank. Players must use their wits in order to ensure that their fish is able to pick up apples and slide on the wooden podiums without falling. The game contains a lot of unlockables, which is sure to be an added incentive to finish more levels. Apart from unlocking the obvious things such as levels, players can also unlock Milo's friends as playable characters within the game.
Overall I really enjoyed Fish Hooks, and it definitely has joined the ranks of my other time-wasters on my iPhone. Its attractive price tag of free, gorgeous levels, and intuitive game play really do make this game a must have for any casual gamer!
