Like the record player and the walkman, point-and-shoot cameras for regular folks are being relegated to the memories of those old enough to have actually used them. The quality of cell phones and camera apps is increasing at such record speed, we’ve got everything we need to hold our own on Instagram and Tumblr.

FancyCam is a recent addition to the photography genre, and a worthy one at that. Apply any of the 70 real-time effects within 13 filter themes. Photo fanatics will have a blast with filters such as Color Splash, Urban, and Fab. Frame the shot, choose the filter, and then with a simple swipe try on each effect for size. Filters include scene modes such as night, scenery, beach, flash, sunset, or food. It’s almost overwhelming. Plus as an Instagram user bonus – shoot in square mode!

photophoto 3Once the image is snapped, there’s no stopping now! Get creative with decorations such as stickers, doodles, cut-outs, and funky fonts. Put the finishing touches on with editing tools that adjust brightness, exposure, blur, hue, and more. FancyCam also offers white or black theme, watermark, and mirror mode settings.

Finally, complete the masterpiece by encasing it in one of the 20+ borders or 50 collage frames. Oh, but wait, after all that hard work it’s almost a given that it will be shared to Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Weibo, or other apps users may have on their phone (Skitch, Evernote, Snapseed, Camera+, etc).

Loving the variety of looks offered by FancyCam? Users can import any photo taken with another camera app and go to town with the filters, effects, and other fun features available. FancyCam is a cool tool for anyone’s photography folder. Download it now and ramp up the Instagram competition just a little.
