Faces: Fun with Photos is clearly an app that has been carefully thought through. It’s an app that enables its users to transform their photos with the use of around 200 humorous props to create fun pictures. It’s kind of like those photo booths that always seem to be in shopping centers and malls, encouraging people to mess around with their friends and take some fun shots. An app like Faces: Fun with Photos could have stuck with a very obvious and uninspired user interface but developers tap tap tap clearly decided this wasn’t good enough.

Instead the user interface is great, keeping in key with the rest of the app perfectly. Users are offered the choice of taking a photo from within the app, using either the front or back camera (if available), picking a photo out from the photo album and viewing the props available. Once a photo has had props added to it, it even shows up in the corner of the room on the screen. Throughout the experience, a cheeky and cheery soundtrack plays in the background adding to the lighthearted atmosphere.

The props themselves are pretty cool, offering a vast array of quirkiness. It’s the kind of thing that would particularly appeal to younger iOS users but still be plenty of fun for all ages. Users can choose what props to add or press a randomize button to see what comes up. Everything from funky glasses to afros and weird ears are possible. Once a creation has been finalized users can then share through the usual options of Twitter, Facebook, SMS and Email.

There’s a plentiful supply of props already but I’m hopeful for future updates to add more as Faces: Fun with Photos has the potential to be a popular hit for longer than its first few weeks of sale if this happens. It’s good fun indeed and the ideal app to enjoy with friends and family.
