Poor Dr. Meow can’t fit through his kitty door because he’s gained quite a few pounds from nibbling on his favorite treat. Instead of enjoying cat nip, tuna, or kitty snacks, Dr. Meow prefers to eat lots of cookies. In this physics-based puzzler, gamers are tasked with helping this fluffy yet plump cat get all the cookies that his heart desires.

There are a total of 90 challenging puzzles for gamers to get through in Cat on a Diet, and each one becomes progressively more difficult. At the start of the level, players must figure out how to get Dr. Meow safely into the cookie jar. The levels require slashing through objects all while avoiding dangerous traps in order to help him roll and tumble safely to the cookies. Fast reflexes, timing, and clever thinking are required to master this game.

Instead of a three star rating, players receive three cupcakes that need to be collected on each level. Levels can be replayed again later, so there’s no need to worry about collecting all the cupcakes during the first try. Also, gamers can go back and replay levels to try and beat their previous times, which gives the game a pretty decent replay value. Furthermore, gamers can work on climbing Game Center leaderboards and earning achievements.

One cool feature about Cat on a Diet is the ability to collect costume pieces by finding hidden cracks in levels. Tapping on these cracks eventually reveals a costume piece that gamers can place on Dr. Meow. There are currently 50 hats, masks, and props to collect.

The game comes with a few power-ups, but those who have a hard time passing a level may opt to purchase muffin magnets or soap bubbles to help them. These in-app purchases are completely optional, but they are there to use for those who need them.

While there’s nothing particularly new and innovative about Cat on a Diet, it’s still a fun and charming little puzzler that’s perfect for all ages. Although it may be a little on the short side, there is plenty of opportunity for Chillingo to add level updates in the future. For now, it’s an addicting pick-up-and-play title for gamers who can’t get enough physics-based puzzlers in their lives.
