Amazing Runner is similar to many other running games out there at its core, but with a few notable differences. The 3D graphics and need to run on the top and sides of the screen set it apart from other similar games.

In Amazing Runner, players control an avatar that is running through levels full of obstacles, such as jumps, loops, and blocks. Hitting a block without tapping to lunge forward and destroy it does damage and takes away one of the players 3 lives. The course also moves around so players have to tilt their device to make sure that the runner doesn’t fall off the course.

Yes, Amazing Runner is similar to Temple Run, but with some notable differences. Players control the runner by tapping and swiping, but the inclusion of surfaces in the air and on the sides of the screen set the game apart. Swiping up or to the side will cause the runner to move to a platform on the top or side of screen. There are also loops, which are quite challenging to traverse. Players have to move their finger in spiral pattern at the correct cadence to not fall off the platform.

Players collect gems throughout the levels and there is a store where players can use gems to purchase additional avatars, power ups, and items. Some of the items include a revive kit, which is a one-use item that lets you have a second chance after dying, and a head start, which give you a boost at the start of the game.

There are only four avatars in the game, but they are all well designed 3D models and fit with the futuristic vibe of the app. My two favorites are Max-777, which is a big robot, and Uncle Strange, who is a hunched over old man with a cane. Each avatar has unique movements, animations, and sound effects. Additional gems can be purchased for real money.

The graphics are quite good, which isn’t surprising since the Unreal Engine powers the app. The sound track and effects is also very fitting for the game. The app also integrates with game center, so there are achievements and leaderboards. Players can view stats from the main menu, too.

Although the game is $0.99, players still see ads on some screens. However, they are unobtrusive so it really doesn’t matter.

Anyone who is a fan of running games will enjoy this game. It is similar to other games out there, but it has a few features and game mechanics that make it different. If other running games have become mundane and boring, then definitely consider purchasing Amazing Runner.
