It’s time to chew gum and blow bubbles in order to make it to the end of each level. AdvenChewers takes players on a journey across the skies as they must avoid obstacles and enemies while collecting coins and birds throughout each level. It’s a charming concept; blowing bubbles to drift across the stage while collecting those items. It makes things even more interesting with the use of different types of bubble gum that allows players to run into enemies and objects on screen without getting hurt. There is pretty much gum for anything.
The gameplay is simple as it’s up to the player to tap the screen to jump from one platform to the next, or to tap and hold the screen to blow a bubble and begin climbing into the skies. It’s definitely nice that there are multiple types of bubbles to chew; otherwise the gameplay would quickly grow old. Another thing to appreciate is the different elements that appear during gameplay. Such as how blowing a certain type of gum allows players to create a wind tunnel that glides them through a short area.
It’s absolutely a casual and easy-going title for players to jump in to and have a decent time. It makes things more challenging as they have the option of collecting three birds while going through each level. If players miss a bird, they’ll be able to replay the level to try and find it on the second playthrough. If players make a mistake and die, they can be revived if they collected a bird during their short journey across the stage. There are also feathers for players to collect that allow them to fly on top of a phoenix for a moment. The phoenix is invincible and allows players to easily collect coins and progress through the stage.
Once players begin to get further into the game they’ll discover harder paths to get by, which increases the challenge and forces them into making decisions about what type of gum to use. If there are too many projectiles on screen where the player is worried about getting hit, they can select a gum that makes them invincible for a short period of time or use the freeze gum to completely stop the projectiles. Players are able to earn in-game money to use on purchasing more gum. One of my favorites is the shock/lightning gum that destroys anything within a small perimeter.
AdvenChewers can keep players busy after delving through the 48 levels as they can go back to earn higher scores and beat their friends times on the leaderboards. Trying different types of gum in certain areas can help increase the score, so it’s fun to toy around with different options.
AdvenChewers is a fun and sticky concept that can have players entertained for quite a while.
