Making notes is one of the main things I use my iPhone for nowadays. It helps me keep track of everything from shopping lists, to comics I need to read, to apps I need to download. It has basically replaced my need for a short-term memory (that’s not good, is it?). Since the stock iPhone Notes app is so dull and limited in terms of functionality, nearly every note-taking app on the App Store improves on it in some way at least.
2 Note is an app that claims to be simple, distraction-free, and highly adaptable. It has all of the functionality of a classic note-taking app: password-protection, photo notes, voice memos, a search function, and more. Dropbox integration, for exporting and backing up notes, ensures that the app does what it promises; to “remember everything so you don’t have to.” It all works well, and the ability to create notebooks helps to keep ideas ordered, especially thanks to the customizable and colorful icons. Unfortunately, 2 Note has none of the flair or intuitiveness that other popular note apps have introduced.
Compared to something like Clear, which has the looks, the ease of use, and functionality to boot, 2 Note forgets that an attractive interface doesn’t always equate to lack-luster performance. 2 Note looks too much like a stock iPhone app to me. This may be to some people’s tastes, but I found it to be a bit uninspired.
2 Note is an app for those who are after a no-nonsense, no-thrills note making experience. The design is nothing new, but the functionality is incontestable. For anyone who wants simple productivity with a host of extra features, 2 Note is more than capable for the job.
